Why Coaching?

Because there is no magic pill.

And you want clarity. Fast.

Making sense of all your options is hard to do on your own.

I can help you get the clarity you want to chart your path forward, sustainably and faster.

Most of us haven’t been taught how to make strategic and intentional life decisions. To determine what we want when faced with seemingly endless options. To create a strategy for our career and life.

We do, however, spend a lot of our lives learning how to get jobs and be good at our chosen professions. But not much time on how to build a life of value, purpose, and joy.

We were given a one size fits all roadmap to success by parents, schools, society, and the media without questioning whether it was the right map for us. The premise was if we followed it, we’d be set.

That map wasn’t necessarily wrong. But we weren’t told it was just ONE way vs. THE way. That we could design our own roadmaps and pick our own directions. Because if we don’t purposefully choose the directions of our careers and our lives we’ll end up in places we did not want to be because we didn’t choose where we did want to be.

I’ll help you determine where you do want to be and how to get there.

The Work.

We partner up to figure out YOUR way. We work through your current challenge(s) using a strategic and systematic process to determine what you want and figure out what’s next from here on out. This process not only applies today, but for all the future moments that will make you ask, “Now what?”

We’ll make sense of what’s in your head. The overwhelm. The doubts and fears. The multitude of options. The coulds, shoulds, and what ifs. We’ll develop long-term strategies and I’ll share my frameworks & tools you can use to make the critical choices that will move your career and life forward.

The process I’ll share is one I’ve pieced together, designed, and experimented with over the last 15 years. It’s informed by my career in strategy, brand, and marketing with some of the top brands in the world; years I’ve invested in my own personal development/growth; and the personal experiments I’ve run through massive career/life changes (i.e. explosions) and transitions. I’ve tried a lot of things you’re considering… changing companies, switching industries, taking time off to travel, settling down, (almost) going back to school, buying a home, moving to small town, wiping the slate clean and starting over (you can read more about that here)… and can share the insights I’ve gathered.

The Promise.

My promise is to SUPPORT you and, more critically, CHALLENGE you.

To give you a SAFE SPACE to explore your ideas with ZERO JUDGMENT.

To push you to DEFINE who you want to be and what you want for your career and your life.

To REMIND you of what you want and put a mirror up when you need to see yourself more clearly.

To help you ORGANIZE your thoughts and DISTILL clear insights.

To GUIDE you to confident decisions about which direction to head in.

To STRATEGIZE with you on your plan to make it happen.

And to HOLD YOU ACCOUNTABLE to that plan.

Most critically, I maintain objectivity because your worries, fears, blockers, and doubts don’t impact me the way they do you so, I can help you see and work past them. (Not to say I don’t have my own baggage that I work through on a regular basis. We all do.)

My process isn’t the only way forward and I have no doubt you can make confident decisions on your own. But how will you do it and how long will it take?

My goal is to get you sustainable clarity in the career & life you want as well as confidence in your plan to get there. Working together will get you there more effectively and a lot faster.

"Pam is so much more than a coach to me. She’s been such a genuine, caring, and consistent presence over what has been a pretty chaotic and confusing six months of my life.
I’ve been to numerous career coaches, but Pam is the only one who invested in me as a person and who understood that there’s more to my career exploration and job search than the standard resume guidance, cover letter writing, and networking “how to's." She’s helped me understand what my personal blockers were and provided me with tangible ideas as to how to overcome them.
Most importantly, Pam helped me adjust my mindset and reframe my thoughts so that I felt true enthusiasm about the job search journey and the confidence to apply this new approach to other aspects of my life."

"I was at a cross-roads in my career, grappling with being a design consultant, dealing with entrepreneurship, and feeling frustrated with my lack of progress helping with the Climate Crisis. Pam and I had previously worked together on a project so when I heard about her talk about Executive Coaching, it seemed a natural outgrowth for her, but didn’t think it pertained to me.

The thought of having the help of a coach seemed unnecessary. I would just figure out my own problems, in my own way. It was my family though that encouraged me to reach out and ask Pam to help me as I struggled to make progress.
I am so fortunate that I did, as it unlocked my mindset about how I could and should rethink my path.

The process was profoundly introspective, especially for a designer focused upon everyone else. She encouraged me to dig into the things I was passionate about, what I had done before, and what had changed in my world view. I explored how to be involved and reach I never would have imagined, taking new approaches and looking at just what I needed to get there. I enrolled in Circular Economics classes at Cambridge, my first true program outside of design, joined sustainability groups and started talking more directly about my passion to help humanity adapt and address the Climate Crisis.

It also allowed me to I set terms for my next position according to these new goals. Ultimately, I joined Amazon Robotics, my first corporate position in decades, to focus on the human and sustainable path robotics should take. It was the first time in a long time that I felt there was a chance to be more of who I want to become. I am forever grateful to Pam for her guidance and coaching and recommend that you consider hiring her if you want to truly reimagine your future self.”
